Set a timer to shut down PC automatically
Thursday, February 18, 2010 4:55
Sometimes we need the PC continues running for a while when we have to go away. There is a command line for shuting down your PC automatically even if you were out of office.
First click on windows Start button, select “Run”, and you will see the run window. Type this command on the blank field:
shutdown -s -t 3600
then click on OK button.
Now the timer window jumps out:
It shows your PC will be automatically shutdown in 1 hour.
Let me explain how this command works. Shutdown is a command line tool in windows for automatically shuting down PC. The argument -s is meaning shut, -t for setting after how many seconds the PC will be shut.
So If we need to shut PC in 20 minutes, we should type shutdown -s -t 1200
If you want to stop this auto shutdown command, click on “Run”, type in shutdown -a to abort
